Upcoming Lecture: Planetary Science in Its Golden Age

    Upcoming Events

    08 Nov, 2024

    22 : 30

    • Have you ever looked at the sky and pondered the stars?

Have you ever wanted to know about other mysterious planets and celestial bodies that exist in the universe beyond our Earth?

Have you wondered why asteroids "visit" Earth and whether they might carry clues to extraterrestrial life?

Planetary science, an ancient yet ever-evolving discipline, has developed over centuries--from the initial observations of the planets in our solar system by ancient scientists, to the in-depth exploration since our entry into the space age. The goals of planetary science are to search for extraterrestrial signals of life and habitable environments; to prevent celestial bodies from hitting the Earth; and to explore the origins and evolution of the solar system.

    • This Friday, 8 November, at 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Professor Dmitrij V. Titov from the School of Atmospheric Sciences, Sun Yat-sen University, will visit YCIS Hong Kong to deliver a talk titled 'The Golden Age of Planetary Science.' He will explain the mysteries of planetary science to YCYW students and teachers. The lecture will be streamed live for the entire YCYW community, with Chinese translation provided.

Please join us, as we meet this distinguished expert in planetary science, hear stories about humanity's endless exploration of space, and find answers to our questions about the universe!
