After a day full of impressive events, the Yew Chung Gala Day Gala Dinner was held on 28 March at the Hong Kong Palace Museum. The guests enjoyed an exciting live auction and fabulous performances by artists and students.

Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE) is committed to nurturing a new generation of passionate and inspired ECE professionals. As a key initiative of YCYW’s 90th Anniversary Capital Campaign, the proceeds of the auction will be used to support the development and the scholarship programmes of YCCECE.

In her welcoming speech, Dr Betty Chan Po-king, CEO & School Supervisor of YCYW Education Network, remarked, "I am thrilled that we are able to celebrate this historic milestone together, especially at such a special venue, which reminds us of both our traditional Chinese heritage, as well our innovative and progressive approach to education."

Dr Chan emphasised that future educators are an essential part of YCYW’s education system and said that if her late mother, Madam Tsang Chor-hang were present, she would be proud of YCCECE students.

"Just take a moment to think about the immense impact that a loving and highly skilled Kindergarten teacher or Principal can have over the course of his or her lifetime, and multiply that by 1000, for example – our current and future YCCECE students and alumni will surely shape countless more lives than my Mother and I ever did, spreading the ‘Yew Chung Approach to Early Childhood Education’ beyond our Yew Chung Schools. So Students – you are our future, and I pray that you will find as much joy and purpose in teaching as my Mother and I did! There is nothing better than life influencing life," said Dr Chan.

Prof Allan Yuen, YCCECE President, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to members of the YCYW family who have supported the development of YCCECE. Two student representatives from YCCEC joined Prof Yuen at the event.

Student representative Sean Michael described how YCCECE had helped him develop as a future ECE : “One of the most impressive learning experiences at YCCECE is the opportunity to work with children in real-world settings. We are given the chance to practice our teaching skills in a variety of settings, including schools, childcare centers, and community organizations.”

Together with local artists and YCIS students, all-round jazz musician Huang Ye performed jazz classics, drawing the guests into the bright and fun music. Secondary students from YCIS took to the stage to perform an excerpt from the original musical "Mother's Legacy", recreating the inspiring story of "Hau Cheung Po Po", Madam Tsang Chor-hang.

The Gala Dinner culminated with the live auction. The guests offered generous support, as they bid enthusiastically for an array of significant auction prizes, including “Exclusive Dinner at the Peninsula with YCYW Founders”, “Principal for a Day at YCIS”, and “Personalised Fellowship at YCCECE”.
