More than 20,000 people joined the YCYW Northern China Online Art Day on 10 December, a spectacular art activities and exhibition online organised by students from seven YCYW Schools in Northern China.
YWIES Beijing Yizhuang housed the physical exhibition hall with student artists from YCIS Beijing, YWIES Beijing Yizhuang, YWIES Yantai, YCIS Qingdao, YCIS Chongqing, YWIS Rizhao, and YWIEK Qingdao, presenting over 1,000 beautiful artworks and filling the school with vibrant colours. As the exhibition has moved online due to the pandemic, students from YCIS Beijing and YWIES Beijing Yizhuang transformed into tour guides and introduced more than 1,000 artworks bilingually, allowing the online audiences to understand the stories behind these artworks.
A series of musical performances then followed, with students’ from YCIS Qingdao, YWIES Beijing Yizhuang, and YCIS Chongqing performing solo, ensemble and choir etc..
Renowed calligrapher Mr Wang Zhongming was there to share the know-hows on the appreciation of Chinese calligraphy.
In the art workshop, YCIS Beijing students created artwork using simple tools at home while paying tribute to the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. On the other hand , YCIS Qingdao students demonstrated in a 5-minute video on how to make unique monochrome prints. Students and teachers from YWIES Beijing Yihuang created artwork with paper towels while YWIES Yantai students handicrafted a piece themed “Creative Hotpot”.
Despite a change in the format, there was no settling for less in terms of fun. The 2-hour online event provided YCYW students with a great opportunity to showcase their artistic talents and their perceptions in the pursuit of love and beauty.
If you missed the event or wanted to revisit the day, please feel free to watch the playback on the live broadcast and/or the virtual art exhibition.
